On June 17, 2014, one of the firm's founding members, Craig Schauermann (now of counsel to the firm) published a blog entitled WHY WE ARE: “Washington Oregon Lawyers”. In it, Craig addressed our firm's ability to handle personal injury and wrongful death cases on either side of the Columbia River – with lawyers licensed to practice in both Oregon and Washington courts.
Enhancing this trend, on March 5, 2019, attorney Ben Melnick (Schauermann Thayer's most recent addition) obtained his license to also practice law in Oregon, complementing his five years of experience as an attorney licensed in the state of Washington.
With Ben's recent addition to the Oregon Bar, all five practicing attorneys at Schauermann Thayer – including Bill Thayer, Scott Staples, Scott Edwards, Brad Thayer, and now of course Ben Melnick as well – are duly licensed in Washington and Oregon, in both state and federal courts.
We enjoy the opportunity and challenge of being able to handle our clients' cases in Portland and other Oregon communities as well as in Vancouver and elsewhere around the State of Washington. Both states have so much to offer, including diverse populations of interesting people and fascinating contrasts of urban life juxtaposed amidst vast areas of beautiful Pacific Northwest scenery. We are grateful to be able to live and work in such an interesting and beautiful place.
