On January 28, 2020, Craig Schauermann, Scott Edwards, Brad Thayer, and I made an important appearance in Olympia. It was for WSAJ's Lobby Day. In short, WSAJ organizes a mad scramble of attorneys who represent injured persons and workers to meet with the Representatives and Senators from their home districts. This happens during the legislative session when the legislators are busy with committee meetings, floor votes, and other duties.
On behalf of WSAJ, we have the opportunity to advocate for our clients with the men and women elected to represent us in the Capitol. We get to meet them face to face, hear about the topics that are important to us—and our clients—and to learn about the issues important to our legislators.
Craig and Scott turned out the night before for the legislative reception, an informal meet-and-greet that all legislators are invited to attend. Bright and early the following morning, Brad and I met up with them—as well as other WSAJ Eagles Greg Price, Jill Karmy, and Doug Palmer. We braved the rain to meet with Rep. Sharon Wylie, Sen. Ann Rivers, a brief meeting with House Floor Leader Rep. Monica Stonier, and Sen. Annette Cleveland. We also met with the staff of Rep. Brandon Vick and Rep. Stonier.
It was a great day and a great event. It's wonderful to be a part of the legislative process, and we'd like to thank the legislators and their staff for taking the time to meet with us, as well as the WSAJ staff for setting it all up.
