Being a lawyer is more than studying the law, working with clients, and resolving disputes. Service and volunteering are both encouraged in the profession. Schauermann Thayer prides itself on volunteering for leadership opportunities within the law.
First, Scott Edwards has taken up the mantle in both Oregon and Washington. He is set to serve another term on the WSAJ Board of Governors. This will be his seventh consecutive term with the organization, which is the largest and oldest civil justice advocacy organization in the Pacific Northwest.
Second, Brad Thayer, along with Mr. Edwards, have started their second term on the Oregon State Bar House of Delegates, which advises the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors on policy matters concerning the practice of law in Oregon. Prior House of Delegates actions have focused on attorney discipline, legislative issues, member dues, and other member resolutions.
Finally, Ben Melnick will continue to serve as the chair for WSAJ's Southwest Washington Roundtable. It is his fifth year in this position. He will also serve, for the second term, as the Treasurer for the Clark County Bar Association.
